Yi Zhao has studied in the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology (B.Sc.), the Rubrecht-Karls University of Heidelberg (state exam) and Europe Institute of Saarland University (LL.M.). After having passed two state exams and received practical legal training at the District Court of Mannheim, Yi Zhao became one of the few German Attorneys-at-law with the Chinese origin. In particular, she has gained extensive experience in commercial law during her work at German Chamber of Industry.
Yi Zhao’s primary areas of practice include intellectual property rights, unfair competition, commercial law and company law. In the area of intellectual property rights she represents clients before the German Patent and Trademark Office, the European Patent Office and the Office of Harmonization for the Internal Market (OHIM), including the registration of German and EU trademarks, designs as well as litigations. In the areas of unfair competition, commercial and business law she gives advices, reviews and draws up contracts, license agreements, supply agreements and litigation briefs.
The mother tongue of Yi Zhao is Chinese. Besides Chinese, she speaks fluently German and English.
